1. Define
This, the first step in the web process aggregates the knowledge we have gained to date through meetings or other means. During the define stage, we work to build a strong foundation for the rest of the project. The understanding we gain in this step prepares us to deliver a strategy and solution that will meet the objectives of the project.

• “Fuzzy” Scope (preliminary outline of all deliverables)
• Project Timeline (calendar of key events and deliverables)
• Creative Brief (summary of site objectives and strategy)
• Formal or Informal User Research
• User Experience Definition & Documentation
• Define Information Architecture (site map chart identifying all information in site)

Exit Criteria:
• Consensus on final strategy
• Approved “define” documentation
